My Fine Art Collections

Every landscape holds a story. Some are written in the traces of what remains.

My photography explores places where the past is still present—where human activity, the passage of time, and the forces of nature have left their mark. From the abandoned industrial spaces of Mare Island to the fire-scarred forests of Northern California and the forgotten communities of the American West, I seek to reveal something beyond what is immediately visible. Rather than simply documenting these places, I interpret them through light, form, and atmosphere, creating images that invite reflection on memory, loss, resilience, and the enduring character of place.

Each collection offers a different exploration of these ideas, united by a belief that what remains can be as compelling as what has disappeared.

Through David Welch Photographic Arts, my nonprofit organization, proceeds from print sales support the preservation of our natural and cultural heritage, including public lands, historic places, and organizations dedicated to the advancement of photographic arts.
