America’s public lands have long been a source of inspiration for my photography. From the towering granite walls of Yosemite to the sculpted badlands of South Dakota and the quiet forests of the Pacific Northwest, these landscapes offer an extraordinary diversity of form, light, and atmosphere. They are places I return to again and again, drawn by both their natural beauty and the sense of discovery that comes from experiencing them firsthand.
Over time, my approach to photographing these places has evolved. While I remain captivated by expansive vistas and the fleeting moments when light transforms a landscape, I have become increasingly interested in quieter, more intimate encounters with the natural world. The textures of weathered stone, the sculptural forms of ancient trees, and the subtle interplay of light and shadow often reveal as much about a place as its grandest views.
Public Lands brings together these different ways of seeing. Some photographs celebrate the remarkable beauty and scale of the American landscape; others invite a more contemplative experience, exploring form, abstraction, and the enduring presence of nature. Together, they reflect a continuing journey of observation, interpretation, and appreciation for the places that belong to us all.
