Reminiscence at Edgewater Gallery
Reminiscence at Edgewater Gallery
This September, Edgewater Gallery in Ft. Bragg presented Reminiscence, an exhibition dedicated to the power of memory—the roads we’ve traveled and the people who have touched our lives. When I saw the call for entries, it felt perfectly aligned with my own series, Blooming Memories.
The jurors, renowned Northern California assemblage artists Esther Siegel and Spencer Brewer, opened the show to all media, creating an exciting opportunity to share my photographic work alongside painting, assemblage, and woodblock prints. I submitted a set of images and was thrilled when two from my series—Fading Memories and Breakup—were accepted. What an honor.
Although I was out of town when I received the news, I made a quick trip back to Santa Rosa to prepare the pieces for opening night on September 5. While delivering the framed works, I had the pleasure of meeting gallery co-owner Chris Hagie. An artist and photography enthusiast, Chris shared that her late father was a passionate photographer who left behind a beautifully organized archive of negatives. She hopes to share his work with the public in the future, and I look forward to supporting her in that effort.
Opening night was a joy. The exhibition was beautifully curated, with each piece resonating deeply with the theme of remembrance. My photographs were the only works in that medium, surrounded by evocative paintings, assemblages, and a striking two-piece woodblock set. Connecting with fellow artists, visitors, and seeing my work on the gallery wall was a deeply rewarding experience. Chris and her gallery partners, Karin Denson and Elizabeth Locke, even created a wonderful Instagram reel capturing the works and festivities.
Being part of Reminiscence was truly an honor. Blooming Memories is an intimate project for me, rooted in personal experiences and relationships, expressed through composite imagery. You can read more about its background in this behind-the-scenes post, or explore the full collection here. Each piece is a limited edition of six, with the works on display at Edgewater Gallery shown as artist proofs.
Thank you for sharing in this journey!
